Tina Purcell
Pyramid Coach and Colorado Shines Quality Improvement Coach
Tina Purcell has worked with passionate, dedicated early childhood providers since coming to Bright Futures in 2012. Her professional journey began with a B.A. in Physical Anthropology from Colorado State University. In 1989 Tina began leading team-building activities for high-risk youth, as well as corporate groups, as a ropes course director in Lake Metigoshi State Park, Boulder and Fort Collins.
Tina moved to Ouray in 2001, where she volunteered as an EMT-B for Ouray County Emergency Medical Services from 2002 to 2009, while also working with the Voyager Youth Program in various after-school and summer camp programs. She then transitioned to working at the Ouray Public Schools as a paraprofessional, assisting high needs, special education children. During this time, Tina volunteered on the board of Weehawken Creative Arts, a nonprofit offering visual and performing arts education. In 2009, she enrolled her children in school in Telluride where she met Bright Futures Executive Director at the time, Cathy James, and Child Psychologist Dr. Selena Sermeno. They ignited her curiosity in early childhood education and provided training and support. Eight years later, Tina is grateful to be playing in the sand, digging small holes and exploring with young children, birth to 5 years old, alongside the teachers and staff who she coaches on quality improvement and the Pyramid Model.
