Parents as Teachers
Parents As Teachers (PAT) is an evidence-based, in-home visitation program offered
to parents with children 0-5 years old.
Through this free program, a trained parent educator builds a relationship with families and provides parents with information and activities to enhance their child’s intellectual, social-emotional, motor, and language development.
Parents as Teachers is offered in English and Spanish in San Miguel, Ouray, and West Montrose Counties.
The Four Components of Parents as Teachers

Home Visits
A trained parent educator connects with the family one to two times per month to provide targeted developmentally appropriate activities.

Resource Navigation
Parent educators refer families to community resources as needed and help families utilize these resources.

Developmental Screenings
Parent educators conduct annual developmental and health screenings for children, and works with families to address areas of concern.

Parenting Workshops
Bright Futures offers community-wide parenting workshops on a variety of topics determined by parent voice.
