A Path to Excellence
APEX provides higher education and professional development funding to early childhood teachers. This assists in the goals of Strong Start to recruit, train, and retain early childhood professionals, as well as improve the quality of early childhood centers.
Eligibility
Teachers must work at least 15 hours/week at a licensed child care center, preschool, or FCCH in San Miguel County.
Funding is limited and reimbursement is not guaranteed
Full reimbursement is not guaranteed
Reimbursement can be prorated based on the average number of hours worked
Four Easy Steps to APEX

Step 1
Review & Notify
ECE Teacher will identify a course, class, professional development, or conference they will attend
ECE Teacher MUST apply at least 45 days prior to the start of the course.
*Strong Start will not reimburse for courses already in progress or completed.

Step 2
Review & Notify
Strong Start will review the application and notify the ECE teacher via email of acceptance or denial within 15 days of application.

Step 3
Proof of Payment & Transcript
Once the course, class, PD, or conference is complete, the ECE teacher will send Strong Start proof of payment and transcript or certificate.
Teachers must receive a B or higher in ECE class, C or higher in general coursework, or a passing grade for PD. Course can be paid for by the teacher or the center.

Step 4
Final Review & Reimbursement
Strong Start will do a final review. If all requirements are met, reimbursement will be sent.
